The Morris County Professional Counselor Association (MCPCA), affiliated with the New Jersey School Counselor Association (NJSCA), consists of school counselors serving in the public, private and parochial school sectors throughout Morris County.
The organization researches school counseling trends, conducts in-service programs for its members, maintains on-going communication with industry and higher education, sponsors scholarships and recognition programs for middle and high school students, and promotes quality counseling services throughout the county. The organization also advocates for the counseling profession on the local, county and state levels. The MCPCA sponsors the Caring Student of the Year recognition program and participates in selecting the Morris County Counselor of the Year. General membership dinner meetings are sponsored by colleges and trade/technical schools and feature speakers on topics critical to the profession. Topics for meetings are chosen to appeal to counselors at all levels. Executive Board meetings are open to all members. |
The Morris County Professional Counselors Association presents the annual MCPCA Caring Student of the Year Award Program to recognize one senior from each Morris County high school who has given selflessly to others, often being unrecognized. Past recipients have been volunteers within their school, community, places of worship, in hospitals, etc. Some have also been honored for singular deeds of heroic proportions. Although we certainly recognize academic achievement, this award is given solely to the senior who is most closely identified as the “unsung hero” of your school. |
Morris County Counselor of the Year |
Each year, the Morris County Professional Counselor Association (MCPCA) selects the Morris County Counselor of the Year. The winner is honored at the "Counselor of the County" awards ceremony by the New Jersey School Counselor Association (NJSCA) along with the winners of every other county in the state.
Congratulations to Douglas Stech of Woodmont School on being named the 2022 Morris County Counselor of the Year! "As you know, these have perhaps been the hardest few years ever to be a school counselor, given COVID-19 and its impact on our students and teachers. Mr. Stech has been an elementary school counselor at Woodmont School in Pine Brook, NJ for fifteen years. During his tenure, he has achieved many accolades for the different programs he facilitates with his diverse group of students. Mr. Stech is a counselor that not only supports his students, but also his teaching colleagues and his school counseling colleagues. Mr. Stech steers our ship and guides us through difficult times with strength and assurance. He is always offering us words of wisdom, that we have now dubbed “Stech-isms! Mr. Stech’s accomplishments are numerous, award-winning and far-reaching.” Mr. Stech was honored with the 2022 Morris County Counselor of the Year award at the March 30th dinner meeting. Congratulations, Mr. Stech! |
